You had better luck than I did. I hadn't had much trouble with that Oliver 7300 combine since I bought it. But Friday,I started cutting oats. About 4:30 in the afternoon there was some bad clattering in the feeder house and the clutch started slipping. I shut it off, backed out and headed for the end to unload, was going to drop the head off and see what was going on. I went about 200 feet and there was a clatter underneath and it rolled to a stop. I walked up and got a wagon and unloaded.
Saturday morning, the oldest boy and I went up,took the head off and towed it home. The spring in the back side of the front variable speed pulley had come unwound and tore off a steel line to the variable speed cylinder. I worked until about 4 o'clock rewinding the spring and fixing the line.
So then I ended up having to take the feeder house off to fix the chain. Three paddles were all twisted up,the chain was broke and twisted on one side. I got it all back together and going again about 11:30 Sunday morning. I don't think those thin weedy oats were even worth the effort.
