My son and I went to the airshow at St Thomas Ontario this year to see a B-17.They are indeed a very impressive bird.It was a great show with the B-17 (Sentimental Journey) and a Mustang flying escort all painted up like the Tuskegee Red Tail squadron.They also did a rescue demonstration with a Hercules dropping rescuers and supplies to a pair of "stranded and injured" hikers followed by a demonstration of just how short a runway the Hercules could be landed on.
About 20 years ago a Lancaster did a very slow and low turn beside our house during Sunday breakfast.My son ran out in his jammies and the plane was so close he could see the aircrew waving back to him.It made an airplane fan for life of him.He saw the Lancaster at the museum in Hamilton just before its accident.Now that is an impressive plane.
