Yes. In the older days there weren't all these scoped rifles that came with them. Had to add one if so desired and then they were single power and no ring to twist to adjust the view. The old fellers really knew how to shoot and many of them were in WWI (grandpappy) and WW2 (daddy) and the Korean conflict. They didn't get the fancy scopes and could shoot just fine. I still have an old .30-.30 from Western Auto that my dad bought brand new in the early '60's that has the single powered scope on it (first one I had seen with a scope and I was about 10 at the time)and let me tell you I have downed many a buck with that, on my 80 acres back in the woods. I don't get the need for some fancy adjustable super duper scope unless someone is hunting elk or mountain sheep at 300 or 400 yards or such. WTH, I can either hit the dang deer or not..('bout 75% for me...lol).but a fancy scope ain't going to make that much different than the single powered scope.
