A portable do all toolbox doesn't need to do all, just the most basic/common field repairs. Something really specific like a welding clamp pliers or seal driver should probably stay in your shop/home storage. You can always have seperate mobile boxes for welding and major repairs. It's a tough call what to leave. I have a heck of a time with my car trunk and tools--it's always full. You have to figure out how to handle organizing your metric and SAE, so you have the right tools with the equipment. Some tools should just stay with the machine they are for. My pet peeve is when I run the discbine for my dad, the toolbox on the mower and on the tractor are full of SAE tools, when the only SAE bolts on the discbine are the wheel bolts and whatever sheet metal patches he added. No wonder he complains it takes him 2 hours to change a knife. I even bought the right metric socket for the knives a few times in a few years to keep in the toolbox but it's always buried or missing, with a SAE on the ratchet. 18mm is between common fractional sizes, so the wrong tools would be a challenge! Maintenance and common sense go a long way in keeping the field repairs minimized. So do foresight and paying attention!
