Pick a set of gears for the planter close to the planned population. Put some seed in the hopper, and turn the wheel, a certain # of turns. Count the seed dropped, per foot of row, and see if it is what you want (do the math to convert to acre population). Same way for the side dresser, only weight the fertilizer that drops out.
