Think about how nature works. A hen can cover about 15 -17 eggs at a setting. It probably takes that hen 20 days to lay that many eggs ,so every time she lays another egg those in the nest get warmed to body temperature again. In the mean time all those eggs remain at surounding air temperature.
After 21 days of incubation by that setting hen most all of those eggs will hatch within a 24 hour period. The first layed eggs of the clutch were already 20 days old when that hen started to incubate them. Apparently eggs will keep for quite some time without any refrigeration with no harm. Joe
