I'll keep a spare motor on hand for my elevator and grain augers that use electric motors. I pick them up cheap at Farm Auctions. I bring them home and check them out and have them ready to go. If a motor goes I have one sitting there to get me going again without allot of delay. I have seen them cheap on Craig's List too. Most the motors I got for 5-10 bucks when nobody's paying attention at an auction. If one doesn't work when I get it home its not like its a major loss.
