Tekonsha P3 hands down is the best controller. It's a proportional style controller, so you won't even feel the brakes being applied. It automatically changes the voltage applied depending on what slope of ground you are going down. Plus, the brakes even work when going in reverse. It even has a trouble shooting display of voltage and other things to help when there is a problem. It will also tell you if you have a short in the brake wire to keep the trailer brakes from working. I can't say enough about how great it really is compared to all the others I have used in the past. It's well worth the price you have to pay for it.
One last thing, you can adjust the amount of braking "boost" by a touch of the button. So, that means you can set the braking force applied differently for a empty trailer, light loaded trailer, or a heavy load with just a touch of a button.
