Sounds like a Derecho - we got hit with one last summer and most of WV was without power for a week.
I hate to see a pecan tree lost. After we moved to WV we learned they don"t grow where we are. Too cold, altitude or something. If you do any BBQing, pecan wood is the best wood I"ve found for smoking. Similar to hickory but it doesn"t over power the flavor of the meat - like hickory can do.
