We were in Belleville IL today and on our way home we went thru New Baden IL to get to Highland. When we got home it was raining fairly strong. Within a few minutes it was hailing against the East side of the house then it was hitting the South side (front) of our house. I told my wife this isn't good, this is a sign of a tornado. She said I was over reacting. Well I tried to lay down until it was over but the thunder was really loud and when I decided to get back up I looked over to the neighbor lady's place I saw she had two trees down. One hit her little corn crib that has been enclosed with tin. The tree that hit the shed is an old pecan tree and most of the trunk was dead we noticed after it was down. We have noticed the last two years at the base of this tree there were mushrooms growing on the bark. I now know that is a good sign of a dying tree. The other tree was a maple tree that was hollow and home to squirrels.
