Army worms will show up in a small area first, then mature go into ground and come back out as a moth...usually a brown moth, then all the moths will cover field with eggs and keep moving...I have cut hay with army worms and the worms said thank you, because the grass was on the ground and as long it is green they will eat it..after first finding of them you have about 21 to 28 days before they come back...put on rubber boots and walk out early in the morning while dew is still there and they will be on boots..I have seen them clean everything including yards, weeds and whatever was in their way, in East Tx
