Who in their right mind would pay $100/month? I have heard of a couple outfits that are paying that around Atkinson NE. That means you have at least $500 in the calf just for grass, plus feed for the rest of the year, plus trucking, cow feed, cow payment... They have to have a lot sharper pencils then I have. It amazes me, how many pairs are still selling in this part of the country. Why would you hold onto cows, knowing you didn't have grass lined up ahead of time? Most of the guys that are selling now, had to buy feed all winter also.
