I've also had the "squirrel on the head" experience. When I was a kid my dad for some reason "adopted" three gray squirrels. He built a cage about 6x6x6 with a tree trunk with limbs inside. He would sit in the cage with them and allow them to crawl around on him, searching for peanuts or pecans in his shirt pockets. (Yeah, as I write this even I will concede how squirrely this all sounds.)
One day I went into the cage and one of the squirrels dropped down from overhead and latched onto my head. I instinctively grabbed him and he instinctively grabbed me, biting through my thumb, all the while re-arranging my scalp.
