Technology has just brought us closer together and taken away our choice with regards to having to deal with "riff raff." Back in the good ol' days you were exposed to a limited number of people and a limited number of outside influences. You had no idea what went on outside your little sphere of influence, and for all you knew the world was bright and wonderful and everyone was good-hearted and honest.
