I cook the CB first. Put it in big bowl and then do the cabbage and onions next. Taste test how you like best. Then combine with CB. Last, quarter the small reds, and cook. About 20 minutes, Just so you can poke with a fork and they split open.
Then combine them with the rest and just bring to a boil, simmer 5 minutes to "adjust" the flavor.
Buy some pumpernickle bread and provolone cheese to make fried leftover sandwiches. Better than the CB&C Like Ruebens.
