Revercing makes things harder to turn, that is used mostly for mud clearance. But just what are you planting that you need that a wide a wheel tread? Normal for that tractor is a 56" wheel tread and unless you are working on beds or in furrows stay with the recemonded 56" tread, you widen out the wheels and things gets harder to turn. Had a 5000 and 2 4000 all with 38" rear wheels, also a 9N, 2N, NAA and TO30 and all steered better if kept at factory settings, 56" on larger tractors and 52" on smaller ones. On the larger tractors the only time they were set wider than the 56" was on a 4000 for cultivating 40" rows and then on the 5000 to get a semi mount 4-14" plow to trail corectly.
