I've never used any Sta-bil or Seafoam but, for better or for worse, I start all of my small engines periodically through the off-seasons and just let them run for a little while. I try not to let my generators or lawn mowers go un-started for more than a month or so at a time.
It might not really make a difference, but it seems to work for me.
