I think part of my problem is my hands are so big I can't get a good grip. I have a similar problem with my river lcp 380, but it does t bite no where as bad.
You may be right about longer barrels building more pressure, hence more feet/sec.
My buddy has probably one of every derringer made, plus he has had quite a few rechambered. Funny you mention a 500 s&w, he told me that's what he wanted to do in a derringer at Christmas. If they figure it out I will get a picture for here.
