Buy your individual components from somebody like Newegg.com and assemble it yourself. The prices MIGHT be slightly higher, or maybe even slightly lower, but you will have put in the best components and you know what is in there. Also, if you do that, every component inside the computer is not proprietary, so you won't have to buy replacement parts from the manufacturer if something does fail. As for the operating system, load it up with something other than Windows. Ubuntu is wonderful and it's FREE. If you are uncomfortable doing something like this, get help from the neighborhood high school or college computer geek. Give him a pizza coupon or two and everybody will be happy.
