I agree with the answers on the help identify forum. Chain gate used on freight trucks in "store door" service. This is where a long day is 10 (ten) miles but 30 or 40 deliveries.If there was also a tarp across the back it was called chain gate & curtain. Popular back in 30's, 40's, even saw a few around 1970, when local trucks didn't even have heaters. Boss would say driver supposed to be outside carrying boxes into stores, not sitting in cab keeping warm. Willie
