A PDF is not an image file that browsers can render. It takes an external application, no different than a Microsoft Word file. When you view a PDF file in your browser, you're using a browser plug-in so it looks like the image is viewable in your browser, but it's not.
Note that if you capture the PDF from your screen using a snipping tool or Ctrl-Print Screen, the quality of your image is limited to what your screen resolution is. For the best resolution, you need to programmatically convert the PDF into an image format. I use a free command line tool called ImageMagick for that purpose.
