If you are worried about credit thieves, lock your credit accounts. Each credit agency tells you how to do it and it's $10 for two of them and $10.85 for the other.

When you want something on two of them you can get on the www and open it for whatever window you choose. The third one takes a phone call.

I bought a new truck recently and the selling dealer came to me and said that he couldn't finance my truck.......financing at least part of the purchase to get the Ally Bank $2k discount off the selling price. I said why? He said "because I can't get into your credit report....I have tried every way I know".

I explained what I had done, opened it, he got his info, I got the truck for 3.75% over 5 years, financed in part because I got an additional $2k for financing something ($10k was all it took) through the Ally bank (drumming up new customers) which is a result of the Govt. take over. He liked the idea and told me he was going to lock down his personal accounts (Owner of the dealership).

While I'm here, I bought a 2011 Chev. P/U 2 years ago at a great price, not the same old Chevys of old (gave up on GM back in the '80's), got some super financing from the rolled over GMAC which is now Ally bank.

For all you boo birds out there, the gov't intervention in that company turned it around as far as I can tell. I bought a better product than any GM I ever owned, and got as good of a financing as one could ask for. When is the last time you got 3.75% for a 5 year loan on a P/U with about $5k worth of discounts too, plus taking in 2 trucks and a car in trade and giving excellent trade prices?

Don't get me wrong, I went to Dodge back in the '80's and stayed there. The reason for the change was that I retired, didn't need 3 vehicles any longer (the two trucks were Dodges) and I wanted the closest servicing dealer....just happened to be GM and I am not sorry.

Do I work for GM? No, I'm retired and not from them. I just want to inject the fact that all the hoopla you get thrown at you "tain't necessarily so".

Mark

Today's Featured Article - The Day Mom Drove the 8N - by Brian Browning. My Dad was wanting to put in a garden but couldn't operate the 8N and handle the old horse drawn plow he had found and rigged up to use with the tractor. Well, he decided to go get Mom out of the house and have her drive the tractor while he walked behind the plow. You got to understand that while my Mom is a hard worker who will always help whenever she can... she had never operated farm machinery before that day. Dad got her out there, explained how the clutch was the same as in our o ... [Read Article]
