I had a weekend job like that when I was in high school. Older couple, raised registered Herefords and didn't want to quit yet, but just could no longer get everything done and keep everything up like they wanted to. I did everything from mow grass, shovel manure (lot of that), rake leaves, paint, take loads to the dump, you name it. They paid good, fed me lunch, I never complained about any task, and we were both happy for the arrangement.
One sidelight- wherever I was working on fall weekends, he had a radio set up and tuned to the Washington State University Cougar's football game. Even had the pickup radio tuned to that station when I used it. He was a great Cougar fan, and was trying to get me ginned up to go to school there. As a matter of fact, I was an ag guy all the way, and had never considered any other school. I didn't even apply anywere else when the time came. Go Cougs!
I second those who opined that there's nothing wrong with hiring someone to do what you can't (or don't want) to do. That's pretty much what this country was founded on. I think there still are some kids out there who would love to have a job like that.
