Greg Can't help on number of bales he can get on, but can with the description of step deck. Step deck is a flat bed than isn't completely flat. Now that makes as much sense as a screen door on a submarine. Front 8-10 feet of the deck is higher than the rear part. Commonly 8 feet so standard sized items such as pallets, plywood bundles etc fit without wasting floor space. Needs to be high enough to clear the tractor tires for turning. From this higher section the deck "steps" down a foot or so the rest of the way back. Since there is no need for turning clearance, the trailer tires can tuck up between the cross members. Gains useable space above floor to 13' 6" height limit. willie
