You can NOT have two pilot bushings where only one will fit. It's always difficult to get a transmission to mate back with an engine. ALWAYS! But it eventually goes and everything is ok. If the driveshaft was reinstallled without difficulty, I can't see how it would bind unless it was damaged while they removed it.
It sounds like you only know about half the story and are trying to villify the cut-rate hack you hired. You are the reason why women get taken advantage of by mechanics.
