Gas or diesel? how are the tires? does it start easly?,smoke excessively? clutch ok? How do the fluids look? You have to look it over and see the overall condition of the old girl any 40 year old tractor could turn into a HUGE moneypit if it was poorly maintained,But those old tractors are built TOUGH and they are relitivly simple to work on and sooner or later you will have to tinker with it but thats part of the fun
