When we moved into our new house 2 years ago, I installed the reverse osmosis before Lowe's delivered the new refrigerator. The low pressure RO supply tank is hooked to the ice maker; I would NEVER use full system water pressure for the ice maker - just too much opportunity for a leak with high pressure.
RO only uses about 7 psi, which should never cause a leak - and the ice cubes taste better when made with water from the RO. The RO also removes the chlorine from the water; health experts just stated recently that chlorine can damage your health.
