John, Would you explain to everyone why the old electric stoves and close dryers were wired with just 3 wires? This made the mechanical ground and neutral the same wire. The blower motor is 110v. Heating coils 220v.
Also explain why the new electric dryers can be wired with either a 3 or 4 wire cord, but the ground and neutral are both connected to the mechanical ground just like the old 3 wire. There is no seperate place for the neutral and ground. A change in NEC code, but no change in how the dryers are made.
