The bad thing of having the neutral and ground wies in multiple places is it sets up the possiblity of odd loops of electricity if something goes wrong, and the possiblity of electricity showing up on bare metal the ground was supposed to be protecting.
The electricity won't care, it will work fine, but if an odd thing happens to one of those wires, then the electricity will start taking mulitple paths to get out, including through metal parts of your tools, metal boxes, etc. But it will still work, it will just be taking paths that are ore dangerous to you and me...
Took them a while to figure out to use the 4 wires, and keep things seperate all the way.
And unfortunately a long time ago thay used the term 'neutral' for a wire that basically grounds the 'hot' wires, and then used a 'ground' wire only as a safety wire. So it's real easy to confuse the 'neutral' and the 'ground' wire even tho that do totally different things, they can get their names confused....
