I shoot a Remington 700AS in .270 with 3.5x10 Leupold scope. I use 130 grain nosler ballistic tips on most everything. It shoots flat and hits hard. I've killed some really big hogs, mule deer, New Mexico Antelope, Canadian and Texas whitetails. I went to 130 grain Nosler partitions and harvested several Nilgai antelope in south TX.
That gun shoots accurately enough that I also varmint with it. I had a Ruger 22.250 with heavy barrel for that but it was too heavy and not as consistently accurate as the .270.
I also had a Ruger 77 in 300 win mag that was extremely accurate and a long range beast. Problem is it just flat kicked too much.
If your recoil sensitive go with a 7.08 if not it's hard to beat a .270
