Got up and did the morning chores in the dark. (I hate the winter short days) Took some stuff into Dubuque to be given out during the meal for the poor/homeless.
Got home and showed two of the Grand Daughters how to sharpen a kitchen knife. Had to fix the cabinet drawer that we keep the knives in. It fell apart when I pulled it open. New cabinets are less than 3 years old and made locally but are all getting loose at the dove tails, coming apart. JUNK, high priced JUNK at that.
Same two grand daughters helped cut op the ham and turkey we had. Eat WAY TOO much food. Took short nap.
Son called and said that we had some calves out. Went and looked and the neighbor had cut some overhanging limbs and threw them into my pasture rather than in his crop land. (Tree is on his side of the fence) There is an electric fence that runs along the line fence to supply a run of fence across a field we winter pasture in. One of the limbs had knocked the fence down and shorted it out. So went home and got the stock trailer, chain saw, and fence supplies. Went and rounded up the calves. They where just in the wrong field on some hay ground. Then went an cut up the tree limbs and hauled them into a hollow to rot. Fixed the fence and turned the calves back out.
Got home an called the neighbor and chewed him out some. Seems his idiot son had done the tree trimming. He was supposed to have hauled the limbs to their hollow. Reminded same neighbor of the bad fence between us on the other side. I had been letting him slide on fixing that but not now. Told him to have new fence in by spring or the trustees will do it for him.
SO all in all a good day. 1) Good time with the family 2) Plenty of good food. 3) Got a nap in. LOL 4) Got to argue with a neighbor. (That is a favorite spectator sport around here at times)
