So, what did you do on Thanksgiving?

I started the morning by making coffee, then baked a pumpkin pie.
Then had bacon eggs and toast for breakfast.
Then cooked a turkey and stuffing, made gravy and took it all to the family gathering.
Then my brother and I coached a couple of the youngsters on how to skin
and quarter a couple deer, letting them both do it for the first time.
A day spent full of family, friends, good food and memories.
I hope you all had a rich day too!
Life is good! :D

Pretty much the usual. Except that the wife needed a grate fixed in the over first thing this morning. I took that out in the shop and straightened it,welded a piece of rod to the side to make it wider. Did chores. I bed the barns every other day and today was the day,so I did that. Then the wife wanted the joints of some loose chairs glued. The kids got here just before 1. Ate til I couldn't wiggle, sat around for a few minutes after they left. Went out and did afternoon chores, plopped down in front of the TV.

The wife and I went to my daughters to spend Thanksgiving. She just moved back to Michigan from Missouri and wanted to have the family get together at her place. Lots of good food and of course, watched the Lions Loose again.Hope everone had a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

Drank coffee and played with the pup this am, feed cattle and fixed fence until mid afternoon. Then came in and helped the wife fix dinner rolls, layered "rainbow jello", sausage balls and coconut cream pie. Then we went over to my parents place for supper with them and my sis and a friend of hers. Lots and lots of food and lots of leftovers for us and them. Then we watched the 2nd half of the Cowboys vs Redskins game. All in all a very enjoyable and relaxing day.

Same as every day, but didn't have to go to work. Feed cows
and chickens, collect eggs, see what ones will be butchered.
Did some masonary work on my chimney, had dinner then
down to farm to feed my horses. Now spending time with My
wife and 14 month old daughter, Oh yeah
and have the wood boiler on, even
Better! Life is great!

Did a load of dishes. Took advantage of a nice warm, sunny day, spent most of the day on the tractor disking up a sod field in preparation for moldboard plowing next spring. Did chores, stowed tractors in the too small polebarn... Spent an hour and a half babysitting a rifle in the back field waiting for a deer to make a fatal mistake. Weather has taken a dive this evening, cold and raining this evening.

Chisel plowed this AM. Had turkey at noon. Had grandson I haven't seen in three years (he's five now) driving around on little tractor. When they left I plowed some more.

"stowed tractors in the too small polebarn"
Is there any other kind of pole barn? LOL
Cold and raining a bit here too since the sun went down.
Hope you find a couple not-so-smart deer before winter!

Got up had breakfast, packed our bags, Bro in-law drove us to Orlando,Fl, had lunch, got on the plane @2:30, flew into Lansing,Mi, went to Meijer picked up a chicken and some fixin's had quick T-day dinner with the in-laws (89 and 88yo), and came home.

Royse, freezer is full, wife canned the last one, Gave another to a friend (family) who needs the meat. So no great pressure to put another one down. Just seemed like a good opportunity to spend some quiet time alone. Then again if that trophy buck showed up, flipped me the hoof, and said "shoot me NOW! What would you do?

Kids woke me up at 4:00 to go deer hunting. That lasted till 9 no deer drove home and mowed lawn. Cleaned barn graded up the driveway before it freezes. Then went to wifes dads for turkey. All an all a good day. Jim

Slept in an extra hour, had beggs and acon fer breakfast, courtesy of of my slaving wife who was baking rolls for dinner. Then, I went out and repaired a hay ring for the SIL, and loaded a bale of hay for him. Fed the cows, then went up to daughter's for afternoon dinner. About fifteen people, and she had enough (as usual) for about fifty. Vegged for the rest of the afternoon, then stopped in at one of my landlord's homes to talk with her. I just learned her husband passed away Tuesday. She and I went to school together, and we've been friends since childhood. Now, I'm home, and trying to find something on the idiot box. Gonna be a busy weekend- Mom's services on Saturday, and Gary on Sunday and Monday. Getting tired of funerals.

Went out and got rid of the 150 gallons of water/24D I forgot was still in the old fenceline sprayer. Painted the trim around the new shop door. Ate, and ate. Went out to the new shop and put joists in the loft. Went back in and ate some more. Now I'm at the puter till the granddaughters are done hijacking the TV watching Aractaphobia.(sp) I can hear them scream, then I hear Marilyn laughing. Jim

My wife, son and I helped some friends round up their cattle this morning.

Their large barn, a grainery, and two other larger sheds burnt down last night.

Did a little plumbing and wiring too to keep the rest of the yard going.

Got up @ 7:00 and made breakfast (my special oatmeal) for Son and 19 yr old grandaughter. Then went out and loaded fenceposts in the bucket of the skidsteer and proceeded to start pounding. Came in @ noon and dug through about 25 bales that were tarped, but some moisture got in anyway and sorted the good ones and fed the horses 2 bales. Ran in the house "cause I had to be at my Nephews" for a 4:00 dinner...on the way out I noticed I had left the barn door open and the good hay uncovered, so I covered the bales asap, IN the rain! Had a great turky dinner though. Now my son just called and asked if I"d check his water hose as he might have left it on, then to bed!!!

light breakfast, light lunch, then to mom's (87),
then to wife's mom's for heavy dinner. currently;
bathed, teeth brushed, pj's on and soon to bed.

Fed and watered the cows then drove about fifteen miles to the tractor and spent the day flailing about fourty acres of cornstalks.

Fixed waffles for everyone(16 of us) for breakfast. My three sons, 2 grandsons, and I hauled 8 loads of firewood to the house and stacked it in the basement. Helped finsh getting the meal ready, ate ten times too much, took a nap. Now I'm enjoying the evening with family. Doesn't get better than this--thank you, LORD.

Went to my brother-in-law's house for dinner. Get togethers are always interesting on my wife's side of the family. A teenage girl with her front teeth knocked out, etc.

My wife has a half sister who drives a "bull hauler" for a large feedlot. And to look at the gal, you couldn't imagine her doing anything else. And I'm sure she can out-cuss any other collective group of truck drivers if the situation arises.

At one point, I considered decking a couple of other guys my age, then thought better of it. I consider myself as strong a Christian as anyone, but few things infuriate me more than self-righteous idiots quoting from the Bible to try to justify their own bigotry.

All in all, a typical afternoon with that crew.

Worked today, that's what I get for taking 10 days
off to move. Did get a pretty good turky dinner at
the Petro truck stop tho, so all was not lost.

had a 3 hour argument with my winch truck's rear axle, that one may be a draw, fixed some broken tools filled the stock tanks with water and ate a real good meal,

Did chores. Went to store for extra breakfast supplies for
surprise guests that dropped in late last night. At work for
07:00. Went to bank machine after work, paid bill at garage
and took kid to his after school job. Bought some vehicle parts.
Had supper. Went to theatre for makeup and warmup. Did my
Marine role in the play South Pacific. Currently at the Hog"s
Breath Pub having a brew with the cast.

Bought an elderly lady a new dog.

Have this neighbor lady that has had some bad times as on the
same day that her job was eliminated she lost her dog. This
morning I asked her if she wanted to go for a ride and she said if it
wasn't too far she could. Have a friend that had a Golden Retriever
with a litter of pups so as soon as she picked one up and it started
to lick her I knew we were taking it home. Haven't seen her smile
so much in a long time. It was a wonderful day.

tall kid made bacon and eggs for breakfast.
talked to mrs 730's brother this morning.she has 2 brothers 1 is okay guy the other is a first class a----------.
feed the cows hay.
at 1 pm we went into town and had thanksgiving dinner at the methodist church.
this afternoon put straw bales around dog house and covered them with tarpes and threw cedar shaving in dog house.
then put up some Christmas lights.

Got up and fed/watered critters, went to MIL's for dinner. Small old house, had 19 adults and 2 small children with out enough places for people to sit......typical thing with the in laws family.....I hate crowds!!!!!!! Then home where the youngest son and I built a new work/relaoding bench for my man cave.

Got up and did the morning chores in the dark. (I hate the winter short days) Took some stuff into Dubuque to be given out during the meal for the poor/homeless.

Got home and showed two of the Grand Daughters how to sharpen a kitchen knife. Had to fix the cabinet drawer that we keep the knives in. It fell apart when I pulled it open. New cabinets are less than 3 years old and made locally but are all getting loose at the dove tails, coming apart. JUNK, high priced JUNK at that.

Same two grand daughters helped cut op the ham and turkey we had. Eat WAY TOO much food. Took short nap.

Son called and said that we had some calves out. Went and looked and the neighbor had cut some overhanging limbs and threw them into my pasture rather than in his crop land. (Tree is on his side of the fence) There is an electric fence that runs along the line fence to supply a run of fence across a field we winter pasture in. One of the limbs had knocked the fence down and shorted it out. So went home and got the stock trailer, chain saw, and fence supplies. Went and rounded up the calves. They where just in the wrong field on some hay ground. Then went an cut up the tree limbs and hauled them into a hollow to rot. Fixed the fence and turned the calves back out.

Got home an called the neighbor and chewed him out some. Seems his idiot son had done the tree trimming. He was supposed to have hauled the limbs to their hollow. Reminded same neighbor of the bad fence between us on the other side. I had been letting him slide on fixing that but not now. Told him to have new fence in by spring or the trustees will do it for him.

SO all in all a good day.
1) Good time with the family
2) Plenty of good food.
3) Got a nap in. LOL
4) Got to argue with a neighbor. (That is a favorite spectator sport around here at times)

Up at 515 am SSS, then to work. A little busy until about 830am then dead after that. Ate from the turkeys that the unit provided and the other food that the troops had volunteered to bring in. Watched a bit of football then head home at 1800. Change close fix Dad some food and me a drink then sleep on the couch till Friday morning.

Can't wait til 30 Nov which is my military retirement day.

Hauled a load of milk to PA. Just another day when you gotta work for a livin'. Wife had here family here, all 5 grandkids included.

I had to work most of the day for a customer that had a plant down for Thanksgiving, then home for dinner and took rear wheel of H.

Went to the mother in law's and had a pretty good meal out with my wife's family, haven't all gotten together in quite a while.

Did chores in the evening, drove by the Target parking lot at 9:11pm, and was amazed - parking lot full, the Burger King lot was full (they were closed...), and there were some parking in the dentsist's lot across the road, that would be a 2 block hike to the Target store. A line of cars was still turning into the Target parking lot.

Wow.

Went past the Walmart parking lot, it was 90% full, but it had been open for an hour & 1/2 by then, I assume a lot had left to go to Target by then...

This is a small under 15,000 pop town, not a shopping center that draws huge shopping crowds - got one of those with bigger stores only 1/2 hour away, so was surprised to see things that nuts around here.

Obviously were were driving by, gawking, didn't need to fight our way through that....

I did a little power shopping this morning like always, but the Runnings, tiny Sears, and latter-in-the-morning Target stores are not too crazy here on a Friday monrning.
