If you really think the ownership of muzzleloaders, single shot shotguns, .22s, and deer rifles scared the Imperial army, you are a fool ( and a regular hiding behind a new name, too). The Japanese simply couldn't logistically do it. They were barely able to pull off an attack on Pearl Harbor against American sailors with REAL guns. A few subs made it over and did a bit of harmless shelling, but it wasn't the tens or hundreds of thousands of troops they would have needed. Same idiotic argument made on why Hitler didn't invade Switzerland. Neither the Japanese nor the Nazis were scared of hunting rifles in the hands of civilians.
Same as today. The US government isn't scared of a few wingnuts who claim they could hold off the US military for three days if they stay awake.
