As someone who works for himself, and typically put in 60 to 80 hours a week, I can answer that qustion for you, at least as far as I am concerned. For me if I'm working at the shop (behind the house) it's often on a project that takes time to research, etc to get done. As a result I'm often in and out of the house several times a day getting on the phone and/or online. If I'm on the phone, and waiting on hold, it's not that big of a deal to fire up the computer and check in on here. If I see something interesting I might take a minute or two to respond to the post before heading back outside, or I might not, just depends on how big of a hurry I'm in. Regardless of what I do, or how I do it, the work I need to get done always gets done. If I take a ten minute break in the middle of the day I then have to work an extra ten minutes at the end of the day. Regardess of when I put in all of the hours I still get them in because I have a business to run, and customers to keep happy.
That said it all comes down to one thing. If I have the opportunity to take a break, I take it, and enjoy it, because that opportunity doesn't come around as often as I would like given what I do.
