Interesting topic for a Monday morning. There is a saying out there that goes like this, "if children turn out well, it is in spite of the parents, if they turn out bad, it is because of the parents." The real issue here is that parents have abdicated responsibility for raising children to other sources. Instead of teaching them morals and work ethics, parents send them to public schools where they learn mush. Then parents turn children over to the one eyed cyclops for entertainment and hours upon hours of useless video games, etc. I have seen the situation you describe time and time again. When my wife and I got married and had children, we said that we, not anyone else would raise our children. I'm thankful to say that my adult children are all doing well, gainfully employed, and well adjusted.
