Fair enough. However I've got a thousand more stories that I could relay that form my negative opinion of unions.
I've worked for years in the telecom industry were there's an infuriating mix of union/non union positions.
First one that comes to mind - was when I was the only person locally who could fix a problem with one of our switches - but I wasn't union.
So I coudln't type on the computer keyboard of the switch - that was a union job.
So I had to sit behind some clown who didn't know how to type, and dictate complex, case sensitive unix commands to him...
What should have been a 3 or 4 hour job turned into a 5 day week of hell.
"control x - ld - little curly bracket, nope, not that one - backspace, nope - too far, d again, space hold the shift button now then hit - no hold the shift button WHILE you hit the bracket slash, the one over the enter key that big gray key - no that's the enter key - you wanted to hit the slash over it... up arrow, let's try again
Try doing that for five days straight and you'll forever question the union logic too.
I could literally go on for hours with stories of my hell in union land.
Love the idea of unions - keeping kids out of sweatshops and such - but they've turned into something much, much more.
