However, you might want to re-check the primary resistance, as 4 Ohms seems too high, most especially since it calls for an external resistor. I would expect about 1.1 for primary and 1.5 external resistor for a total of 2.6 in those Motorcraft systems. Maybe they are just trying to say, " 5 amps is too high for points!"
