It's funny you mentioned that, there was a big well know shop in Springfield Mass called 'Van Norman'. They started in the pocket watch parts- mirco precision machine? business, and ended up making huge specialized equipment for other tool companies, Bridgeport, Brown and Sharpe etc. It was known as 'the machine makers who make the machines for the people who make machines'... like everything else around here, gone by the late 70's or early 80's....
