I don't know a 1/2 mile to the restaurant and 1/2 mile back on a bike has to be doing some cardio for him. That and the daily trip gives him something to do and look forward to. I'd guess it might actually be doing him some good. If it wasn't let's look at the quality of life issues, if skipping the waffles gives him say another year but he doesn't do anything has he traded quality for quantity? Biggest point IT'S HIS DECISION, I'd be tickled if I could ride a bike 1/2 mile to the local restaurant when I'm in my late 80's
