If it's taking the splines out of the couplers and shaft... I think I'd take a hard look at how much slow is in the front axle pivot bushings. There's probably some where in that area that places the shafts out of line... which causes the wear. Unless you're out doing some kind of severe work with the tractor locked in FWD... The shafts should NOT be wearing out like that.
The reason nobody wants to touch them is likely because they're case hardened. They could no doubt make a shaft easily enough... but most places would not have the ability to correctly harden it... and if it's left soft it won't be as strong and the splines will not last. Whatever you do.... DO NOT WELD the couplers. They need to have some movement and welding will remove that. This will lead to breakage of the front pinion shaft at the weld.
