The BMW scooter was a design study a few years back for a "safety" scooter, demonstrator got some interest and the government gave some tax breaks for some initial production- and the gas price jump made any little scooter a potential market profit maker, combine with some safety regulations in some niche markets, government that wants employment figure up and willing to let some tax"s slide for the factory workers paychecks and you have a possible market succes. couple cycle magazines road tests indicate it actually performs fairly good, is competitive with other scooter about same size.
A R60 with hard valve seats and alcohal capable fuel system for current fuel would be nice- The R69/2, and R75/5 were potential trouble with unleaded fuel 1980s so replaced at the time with Honda Goldwing- kept R69/2 and R50/2 until couple years ago until storage space not available, then they and most of collection/packrat acumulation had to go. Old Wing still runs good locally- concern now is the ethanol mix"s that are only thing available during some runs, had to have fuel pump and carbs rebuilt couple years back and now try to stick to straight gas.
Fuzzy scooter is a antitheft device- no sober thief will want to steal it, the stoners can"t ride away and are too stoned to pick it up- only concern is Rue Paul wannabee, gay crowd and feminist thieves.
