And the other part too is what else would most people that garden be doing? Watching TV? A fertile productive garden plot and the skills to put it to use is a valuable asset and one of the best 'insurance policies' one can have in my opinion.Plus the hogs and chickens appreciate the extras that aren't up to snuff.When I have 10X more of something than I can ever use I can give some away use the best of the best.
