As far as I know none of this area was flooded. While these pictures are from all over the state all this area is inside the levee protected area.
The only areas that were flooded (that I know about or can remember) last year when the river was so high are areas that were inside the morganza spillway and were flooded on purpose.
Unlike the north we have spillways we can open to prevent topping of the levees. The corp has a set of rules to follow. Once x gallons are flowing down the river the spillway is opened to keep the river flow at no more than x gallons that is measured in cu ft per second. With the flood of last year the spillway was opened at 20% and after a flow rate was estimated some of the gates had to be closed to keep the river at the right flow.
