If you want to see a deer in the headlights look, take an older truck to a young mechanic, show him the carburetor, and tell him you"re having some trouble with the needle valve.
I went into a parts store a few years ago and told the young fella that I needed an alternator for my "71 International pickup. As he was trying to find it on the computer, he said, "That"s made by Ford, isn"t it?"
This International has a manual choke for starting. I could leave the keys in it, because there aren"t many people around anymore who know what a choke is, or how to use it.
A 1953 Dodge pickup that I drove in the 70s had a floor starter button. Turn the key to on, and mash the button with your right foot and it would start. I could leave the keys in it, no problem. Nobody was going anywhere with it.
