Yea, around here there are a lot more that say no guns. All my employers have stated that. If I can't leave it in the car in their parking lot and can't take it in, I basically can't have it while driving. Schools are a very good point too. Nobody takes guns lightly any more. I worry about things like--Your best friend says hey man I've got tied up would you pick my kid up from school. Thinking nothing about it you say sure I'll swing by on my way home. You forget the shotgun in the back seat. I know I wouldn't stop to think about it. When you pull up in front the principle stops by to say hi and sees the gun. Pictures of you in handcuffs are all over the evening news while the reporters talk about the carnage a 12 gauge shotgun can cause and how a 12 gauge was used in in the movie theater shooting. Nobody seems to give a damn that it wasn't loaded, in the back seat and you keep it in there to shoot rattlers when checking your fence lines. The nation is outraged at another gun turning up at a school and want you hung. Even the most sensible people interviewed say it's unfortunate but they have a 0 tolerance for that and the law mandates a harsh punishment. As a child we played at school with pretty realistic cap guns (before the orange thing in the barrel). We were allowed to bring unloaded BB guns one day for a play. In high school it was perfectly fine to have guns in the rack in your pickup truck parked on school grounds. Today a kid takes a water pistol to school and ends up expelled.

Actually around here they have schools so locked down they are actually talking about having people scan their finger prints and be on approved lists to pick up their child. Crazy? Well it seems some parents who don't have custody have taken their kids by showing up at their schools and picking them up. The schools don't know that the parent doesn't have custody. Are the schools worried about the child's welfare? Probably more about their liability.

As for guns again, like the other fellow said I've given up. I don't think they'll be outlawed any time soon but legally you can barely use them any more.
