First - I HAVE my old pistol permit and it says right on it that it is good for life. So you're wrong about that.

but aside from that -

The fee for an FID card is $100 for 6 years.

The fee for a LTC is also $100 for 6 years.

And I still stand by the statement that it is up to your local police chief to decide if you get the full permit, or the restricted one.

I do however stand corrected on having to have both. I use to have both - but the LTC will also cover rifles and shotguns - so the full total IS $100

I was under the impression you needed both - totalling 200.

But you also have to attend a hunter safety course - not sure what the cost of that is.

I'm not sure how deciding to not carry a gun makes me a wimp...

but whatever.

Even at $100 - that, and the time to re-take a safety course is enough to make it not worth my time. I just can't be bothered.

I never owned guns to defy the state. And I'm just into them enough to start now.

Just not worth it to ME.

In fact, I'm more opposed to PAYING for my constitutional rights. And I won't do it.
