Years ago I had a 76 Monte Carlo That had #5 spark plug fouled with oil. The modulator valve on the transmission eventually went bad and caused the engine to suck transmission fluid through the intake manifold. It sucked so much oil that the engine gained oil in the crankcase.It took me awhile to find out what was causing the engine to smoke as bad as it did. I replaced the modulator valve.
The next time I changed spark plugs #5 plug was clean as a whistle.
What I plan on doing and if you folks with older engines think this would benefit you could do it. And if you engine men think this is a mistake let me know.
On an engine I have there are pipe taping's on the intake manifold. I was going to plum in a line with transmission oil and a valve so the flow could be regulated. Start the engine on gas then open the valve until the engine smokes pretty good. Run it that way for several times and hope it cleans any sticking piston rings, oil or compression.
