Thank you. Yeah, a lot of things seem to be prone to "premature breakage" these days, from the use of thinner (and possibly cheaper/more brittle?) steel no doubt. Why there were only two bolts on each corner is beyond.
The old Craftsman we had, and our newer Husqvarna, the wheels are bolted almost directly to the frame itself and we never had this issue. The only repair I had to do on the old Craftsman was after about 12 years, the bar that kept the handles from going down broke from wear (used hard, no doubt), so I cut and drilled a piece of flat stock and bolted it on and it worked for the next few years until the engine seized up.
