Sugar cane beetle. Farmers here in SC had a time with it last year. Corn gets a few inches tall and falls over. Pull up a few stalks and see if you can find the damage. Ruined my first sweet corn patch last year and my syrup cane. Sprayed second sweet corn patch at planting and had no problem. I have noticed a lot of garden corn around here that is dying. Sprayed 13 acres of field corn and the sweet corn and see no problems this year. Will spray syrup patch in a few days when I plant.
