Here in New England oil based paints are all but outlawed due to air regulations. I needed a good finish on some garage doors so I went with a Sherwin-Williams paint Duration. It's latex and warranted not to peel and to last 40 years. I've had it on the doors for 4 years and so far it is OK. I also used it on my home on a reshingled side and it still looks perfect 3 years later. In both cases the areas to be painted were either new wood or washed with TSP before use. This is from a guy that would never use anything but oil based paint. Good luck with your project.
